Comic Review Wednesday
Welcome,
This week's comics only had a few highlights in my opinion and since everyone is already talking about the latest scandalous events in Batman #39, I decided to review the comic that seems to not be as recognized. Before I continue though, I would like to announce that this Friday, January 19th, I will hopefully have a different kind of post up so please stay on the look out. Now without further ado, the comic in review this week is....
Super Sons #12 was released on January 17th, 2017 |
Super Sons #12 by Peter J. Tomas, Patrick Gleason, Tyler Kirkman, Tomeu Morey and Rob Leigh
About this issue (Warning: Spoilers)
The Super Sons of Tomorrow story arc finally comes to an end with this issue after crossing over with titles, such as Superman and Teen Titans. This story has focused on a version of Tim Drake (who was previously seen in Detective Comics #965-968) coming to the present day to warn about the danger that Superboy apparently possess to the world. This story also saw the return of Connor Kent, Bart Allen, and Cassie Sandsmark even if they were future versions of themselves. This issue kicks off with the Titans of Tomorrow, Teen Titans and Superman all stand together at the Fortress of Solitude after sending an evil Tim Drake through time in order to defeat him. Superman breaks the awkward silence by asking "Who are all of you? And why are you wearing an 'S'?". They basically tell him that its best not to say because the less you saw when you travel through time or to alternate realities, the better. Wondergirl tells Robin that they have to leave because what's coming next is some thing they have to figure out on their own and then they leave shortly after. Kid Flash takes a selfie with them but Raven soon destroys it in order to protect the timeline. Jon and Damian talk to Superman briefly about their partnership and the abilities of Superboy then they travel to the Justice League watchtower with the rest of the Teen Titans to talk about the future. Damian hopes to enstate Superboy as a member of the Teen Titans however the rest of the team disagrees, which shows the fallout of what they just went through. Damian and Jon continue to look out and care for each other until the very end of the issue.

The Good
I think artwork to a story is very, very important aspect and should never be taken lightly. This series has maintained wonderful artwork from a multitude of artists. Not only has the art been great but the story has been fantastic, as well. I've been hooked on this story since it all began and I have a feeling that we haven't seen the end of future Tim Drake. I would love to see these artists continue on titles like Teen Titans or Supersons. Also, the heartfelt moments of the entire series have always been very touching and never too dramatic.
I would have taken a selfie too |
Superman rethinks the partnership |
The Bad
I don't have much to complain about this issue or the story arc however with a crossover event, it can often be hard to give every character some "screen time". Sadly some characters like Bart Allen and Aqualad got very little recognition during this issue. I was really hoping to see more of the Titans of Tomorrow too but it was still nice to see those three return for a few issues.
Sadly, Superboy doesn't join the Teen Titans |
The Verdict
This story has been great from start to finish, not once did I ever get bored or uninterested. This issue in particular had a twist at the end that I didn't expect (I mean, c'mon I can't be the only person disappointed that Superboy wasn't voted in to be a member of the Teen Titans!). I hope we haven't seen the end of the Titans of Tomorrow either.
My rating: 8.5/10
They still have each other's back. |
